Redwood Yurt

Our BIG yurt, ideal for a large family or an organised cycling hiking group

About Your Yurt

Natural light spills through an open oak door and five picture windows. Sit back and listen to the sounds of bird song and the rustle of the leaves in the morning breeze. Breathe deep as the fresh air fills your lungs. Redwood is available for organised cycling groups to book as an 8 bed stopover for bike-packing trips. Please contact us.

What’s inside

Eight single beds complete with fresh linen and chest of drawers makes your rural retreat a home from home. On those rare occasions when the sun doesn’t shine, the natural insulation of the wood floor, wool rugs and the warmth of a wood burning stove will keep you blissfully cosy.
  • Wonderful "camping" in the South Downs. Charlotte and Rachel were super helpful and welcoming... Everything you need for a great weekend! Just note that there is no fridge - you get a cool box and new ice everyday which is excellent - but if you want to chill ambient drinks this is a bit of a challenge.

Would definitely recommend a visit and spud come back and stay again. Also had lunch at the nearby Rising Sun which was excellent - but definitely book!

Perfect for a relaxing break away. Beautiful scenery and a very comfortable glamping experience! While we were there we were able to spot lots of wildlife and adjacent areas were covered with the most spectacular bluebells! With very helpful hosts and yurt with all the amenities you need, there was nothing not to enjoy.

This was our first time in a Yurt. We loved it. A lovely peaceful location - starry skies and beautiful surroundings and we even spotted a deer in the field in the morning. The beds were super comfy and we had everything we needed. Good space for all 5 of us (travelling with three children 17, 14 and 9). Weather was sunny but freezing cold on the one night and we woke to a hard frost. But with the log burner going all night we were snug as bugs. A really lovely experience to get away from the world for a few days. Rach is friendly and makes everything very easy - thank you.

Great glampsite .. been to a few and this was by far my favourite. Luxury yurt with all things thought of. Warm enough at night with log burner. Fun with our firebowl, bbq and kitchen great and well equipped. Luxury of our own bathroom and kitchen facility helped keep it even more COVID safe. Fabulous local walks/ pubs/ day trips and happy 10-14 year olds in the mix too. Recommend

Hugely enjoyable stay in this secluded location. The yurt is beautifully made and when the log burner is going it is very cosy. The double bed is comfortable and the washing facilities definitely not like camping (hot shower). Equipped with all you would need. Good attention to detail and Rachel was a delightful and helpful host. She really cared that we enjoyed ourselves. Thoroughly recommended.

Beautiful, quiet Yurt in the countryside that brings nothing but joy and peace. Everything you need to escape from the busy life: friendly hosts, spotless clean, kitchen, fireplace, toilets, environmentally friendly and run by people with loving hearts and kindness. Definitely recommend and will be revisiting again! Thank you.

The Yurts are located on a vast field where we experienced the calm of Southern England scenery. We could feel our stress drain away and just lost any sense of time. In the night we enjoyed the bright stars. The Yurt was clean and cosey and the shower area was surprisingly comfortable. Charlotte was a lovely and aimable host, punctual about her care and flexible when she could do something for us.

  • The yurt is absolutely beautiful and just as it is described and shown in the pictures. Our 2 kids had a a great time playing on the swing and running around the fields, having water fights, getting muddy and toasting marshmallows in the evening. There are lots of gorgeous pubs and country walks / cycle rides to do close by. A really fun stay.

Frequent Questions

How many yurts do you have?

We have just 5 yurts at Night Pastures. Beech & Oak sleep 4, Chestnut, Willow and Redwood sleep 6. The yurts are spaced some distance (50-100m) apart with Beech, Chestnut and Oak down one side, Willow on its own on the other and Redwood in the middle (between Beech and Willow).

What are the Bathroom facilities?
Beech, Oak, Chestnut and Willow all have their own private bathrooms a couple of meters outside the yurt. These are fitted out to hotel standards with a hot shower and flushing loo. We provide Faith in Nature toiletries and fluffy towels for every guest. Redwood shares its bathroom facilities with the Campers but still includes hot showers and a composting loo. Guests staying in Redwood need to bring their own towels.
What are the Kitchen facilities like?

Beech, Oak, Chestnut and Willow all have their own covered, outdoor field kitchen a couple of meters from the yurt with gas burners, grill, sink for washing up and work surface. A large ice-box keeps all refrigerated items cold and fresh ice bricks are available daily. The yurts are fully equipped with all the plates, cutlery, glasses, utensils, pots and pans you will need for your stay. Redwood has use of the communal camp kitchen but is provided with all the same equipment as the other yurts. There is a picnic table outside each yurt as well as an indoor dining table in case it’s raining. Each yurt also has its own BBQ and BBQ packs are available to buy from the local pub.

What about Campfires?

We think campfires are essential for any glamping holiday! There is a large communal stone fire pit between Beech and Chestnut Yurts and each yurt has its own fire bowl. You will be provided with logs for the internal wood burner and additional logs for campfires can be purchased on site at £10 per bag. Please be careful to keep the fire pit away from the Yurt and control the fire at all times. Please note that there is no smoking or naked flames inside the Yurt.

What about Electricity & WiFi?
As an off-grid site, all of our electricity is solar powered. There is internal lighting and a socket inside each yurt which can be used to charge a phone but please remember that if you charge 6 phones on cloudy days then you may not have lights in the evening! Sadly solar does not produce enough power to run a hairdryer. There is mains electricity in the shop and we will happily put your phone on charge for the day if necessary as well as provide power for essential medical equipment. A stay at Night Pastures is all about switching off so we have consciously decided not to offer WiFi to our guests however there are 3G and 4G signals in parts of the field so you won’t be completely cut off.
Is there Parking?

Parking is available in the field adjacent to Night Pastures and access to the yurts is via a short walk across the field. You can unload your car in the drop off zone by the gate where you will find wheelbarrows to help you move your luggage. Once unloaded, we ask that you move your car back to the main parking area to the right past the garages. We have a couple of disabled parking spaces available for the less mobile. Please note that in order to preserve Night Pastures unique environment and meadow habitat, parking next to your yurt is strictly prohibited.

Is Early Check-in & Late Check-out possible?
Our check-in times are staggered to reduce congestion in the drop off zone and you are welcome to check-into your yurt from 4pm. A 2pm early check-in can sometimes be arranged in advance but there is a £25 charge for this service. To ensure that other guests are not disturbed, we do not allow check-in after 9pm. We respectfully ask that you are punctual at check-out so that we can get the yurts ready for the next guests.
Do you have a minimum stay?

All of our yurts have a 2 night minimum stay and 3 nights over a bank holiday weekend.

Will I be cold?

There is a handmade wood burning stove in each yurt which will be prepared ready for your arrival. Within the cost of your booking, we provide a bag of logs, kindling, firelighters and a lighter. Additional bags of logs can be purchased for £10 per bag.

Are Linen and towels included?

The beds will be freshly made for your arrival with sheets, duvets and pillows.  Towels and a bath mat are also provided for guests staying in Beech, Oak, Chestnut and Willow. All bedding is changed at the end of your stay but if you need it changed before then, please contact the site manager who will arrange it for you. Additional charges apply for extra linen
