Chestnut Yurt

Family sized Yurt sleeping a maximum of 6 guests staying in comfort and style.

About Your Yurt

Natural light spills through an open oak stable door and three picture windows.  Sit back and listen to the sounds of bird song and the rustle of the leaves in the morning breeze.  Breathe deep as the fresh air fills your lungs.

What’s inside

A luxurious double bed, and four optional single beds complete with fresh linen and chest of drawers makes your rural retreat a home from home. On those rare occasions when the sun doesn’t shine, the natural insulation of wood floor, wool rugs and the warmth of a wood burning stove will keep you blissfully cosy.

  • Wonderful "camping" in the South Downs. Charlotte and Rachel were super helpful and welcoming... Everything you need for a great weekend! Just note that there is no fridge - you get a cool box and new ice everyday which is excellent - but if you want to chill ambient drinks this is a bit of a challenge.

Would definitely recommend a visit and spud come back and stay again. Also had lunch at the nearby Rising Sun which was excellent - but definitely book!

Beautiful, quiet Yurt in the countryside that brings nothing but joy and peace. Everything you need to escape from the busy life: friendly hosts, spotless clean, kitchen, fireplace, toilets, environmentally friendly and run by people with loving hearts and kindness. Definitely recommend and will be revisiting again! Thank you.

Fantastic hospitality by Bozhanka and her family. An added bonus was the unexpected tractor ride for the kids to get the luggage to the yurt.
The setting of the yurts is outstanding and fabulous for tranquility in the middle of nowhere. Nature is all around you, which also includes a few creepy crawlies, as to be expected.
I highly recommend the walk to The Duke of Cumberland Arms, which served fantastic lunch.

A very cool experience, but with nice creature comforts such as a bathroom. We had some issues with water temperature but the boilers were being replaced just after our stay.
Cooking outdoors is fun, with bbq and camper stove. Great hospitality and help and close by to a supermarket and town if needed too.

We spent a fabulous weekend in Chestnut Yurt. It ticked every box and lived up to expectations. Would definitely return and will be recommending to friends who I know are interested in this kind of stay. Rachael and Charlotte are very helpful and on hand if needed. A great outdoor experience with all your home comforts.

  • Charlotte greeted us upon arrival. She was very warm and welcoming. As we were up and out bright and early, returning late, we missed charlotte when she came by to check if all was okay but she still texted us daily to check in, did we need anything, was all okay at the yurt. She is such a lovely host!
The yurt was clean, the beds very comfortable and the shower hot and powerful. We enjoyed lighting our camp fire each night and toasting s'mores. We really enjoyed our stay, good old family fun, no iPads, boys soon got over that. So it was board games, cycling, even heading to west whittering and camp fires to end each day. Perfect. Having spoken to Charlotte and know she has plans for the future, I.e pizza oven etc. Which we felt was needed but we will be back regardless! We have stayed in a similar set up, but our own shower/bathroom really was a plus for us. Looking forward to staying again in the not too distant future. Our boys said it was the best holiday, says it all.

We had a great time staying in this yurt with our 2 kids; very comfortable, yet in the middle of nature! We are already thinking of coming back.

  • Hugely enjoyable stay in this secluded location. The yurt is beautifully made and when the log burner is going it is very cosy. The double bed is comfortable and the washing facilities definitely not like camping (hot shower). Equipped with all you would need. Good attention to detail and Rachel was a delightful and helpful host. She really cared that we enjoyed ourselves. Thoroughly recommended.

Wow what can I say? My 5 friends and I were staying in Chestnut yurt for two nights to celebrate my 24th birthday. Rachel the on-site manager and Charlotte were both really friendly. The yurt exceeded all of our expectations. Really cozy, the ability to charge our phones (a must for my group). Everything you need to be comfortable was provided. We went on an amazing 2 hour walk around the countryside - it was brilliant. My friends and I were raving the whole way home and we’re already talking about when we’re going to go back.

We had the most wonderful time at the yurt, which is beautifully set up and in an incredible spot. It was extremely spacious - there were five of us and we had plenty of room. Charlotte was a wonderful host and made us feel extremely welcome. It's the perfect spot for a tranquil weekend away - lots of lovely walks and pubs in the area but also a great place to just stay inside and relax. Great cooking and bathroom facilities as well. We'll definitely be back!

Frequent Questions

How many yurts do you have?

We have just 5 yurts at Night Pastures. Beech & Oak sleep 4, Chestnut, Willow and Redwood sleep 6. The yurts are spaced some distance (50-100m) apart with Beech, Chestnut and Oak down one side, Willow on its own on the other and Redwood in the middle (between Beech and Willow).

What are the Bathroom facilities?
Beech, Oak, Chestnut and Willow all have their own private bathrooms a couple of meters outside the yurt. These are fitted out to hotel standards with a hot shower and flushing loo. We provide Faith in Nature toiletries and fluffy towels for every guest. Redwood shares its bathroom facilities with the Campers but still includes hot showers and a composting loo. Guests staying in Redwood need to bring their own towels.
What are the Kitchen facilities like?

Beech, Oak, Chestnut and Willow all have their own covered, outdoor field kitchen a couple of meters from the yurt with gas burners, grill, sink for washing up and work surface. A large ice-box keeps all refrigerated items cold and fresh ice bricks are available daily. The yurts are fully equipped with all the plates, cutlery, glasses, utensils, pots and pans you will need for your stay. Redwood has use of the communal camp kitchen but is provided with all the same equipment as the other yurts. There is a picnic table outside each yurt as well as an indoor dining table in case it’s raining. Each yurt also has its own BBQ and BBQ packs are available to buy from the local pub.

What about Campfires?

We think campfires are essential for any glamping holiday! There is a large communal stone fire pit between Beech and Chestnut Yurts and each yurt has its own fire bowl. You will be provided with logs for the internal wood burner and additional logs for campfires can be purchased on site at £10 per bag. Please be careful to keep the fire pit away from the Yurt and control the fire at all times. Please note that there is no smoking or naked flames inside the Yurt.

What about Electricity & WiFi?
As an off-grid site, all of our electricity is solar powered. There is internal lighting and a socket inside each yurt which can be used to charge a phone but please remember that if you charge 6 phones on cloudy days then you may not have lights in the evening! Sadly solar does not produce enough power to run a hairdryer. There is mains electricity in the shop and we will happily put your phone on charge for the day if necessary as well as provide power for essential medical equipment. A stay at Night Pastures is all about switching off so we have consciously decided not to offer WiFi to our guests however there are 3G and 4G signals in parts of the field so you won’t be completely cut off.
Is there Parking?

Parking is available in the field adjacent to Night Pastures and access to the yurts is via a short walk across the field. You can unload your car in the drop off zone by the gate where you will find wheelbarrows to help you move your luggage. Once unloaded, we ask that you move your car back to the main parking area to the right past the garages. We have a couple of disabled parking spaces available for the less mobile. Please note that in order to preserve Night Pastures unique environment and meadow habitat, parking next to your yurt is strictly prohibited.

Is Early Check-in & Late Check-out possible?
Our check-in times are staggered to reduce congestion in the drop off zone and you are welcome to check-into your yurt from 4pm. A 2pm early check-in can sometimes be arranged in advance but there is a £25 charge for this service. To ensure that other guests are not disturbed, we do not allow check-in after 9pm. We respectfully ask that you are punctual at check-out so that we can get the yurts ready for the next guests.
Do you have a minimum stay?

All of our yurts have a 2 night minimum stay and 3 nights over a bank holiday weekend.

Will I be cold?

There is a handmade wood burning stove in each yurt which will be prepared ready for your arrival. Within the cost of your booking, we provide a bag of logs, kindling, firelighters and a lighter. Additional bags of logs can be purchased for £10 per bag.

Are Linen and towels included?

The beds will be freshly made for your arrival with sheets, duvets and pillows.  Towels and a bath mat are also provided for guests staying in Beech, Oak, Chestnut and Willow. All bedding is changed at the end of your stay but if you need it changed before then, please contact the site manager who will arrange it for you. Additional charges apply for extra linen
