Oak Yurt

Couples and small family sized Yurt sleeping a maximum of 4 guests in snuggly comfort and style.

About Your Yurt

Natural light spills through an open oak stable door and three picture windows.  Sit back and listen to the sounds of bird song and the rustle of the leaves in the morning breeze.  Breathe deep as the fresh air fills your lungs.

What’s inside

A luxurious double bed, and two optional single beds complete with fresh linen and chest of drawers makes your rural retreat a home from home. On those rare occasions when the sun doesn’t shine, the natural insulation of wood floor, wool rugs and the warmth of a wood burning stove will keep you blissfully cosy.

  • Charlotte's place is lovely. Rachel, the person taking care of the yurts (and us!) was very inviting, helpful and knowledable about the local area. The yurts felt like a home from home and were ready to accept us into the countryside from the moment we stepped into it. Nice spaced out so privacy is not a problem, but easy to meet your neighbours if you wanted to. We will be coming to stay again, for longer next time!

If you are keen on a place in the middle of the South Downs... this is the place to be. Enjoy the warm welcome of Bozhanka, the peace and quiet, the deer running behind the Yurt! We would definitely go back!

What can I say. Idyllic location, quiet and fully back to nature.
The Yurt was spacious and clean. The oven was the perfect size to add a little warmth in what was never really a cold evening, but it took the edge off, until I made it too hot! Not complaining, fully my fault.

The camp kitchen and grill were ideal for our 5-night stay. The field was flat and felt huge. This gave the impression of a lot of sky, both for blue sky and sunny days, but also star-filled nights.

The bathroom was excellent and spotless.

This was our first experience in a Yurt and we can honestly say it was the most relaxed we had been for ages. As hosts Charlotte/Bozhanka and Rachel were great.

Finally...the bed. Totally awesome and comfortable. Our one pet peeve in life is when we spend money but cannot (Website hidden by Airbnb) such problem here. The bed and mattress were great. Excellent choices made.

Thank you for giving us a taste of nature and some simple life. Very comfortable, very relaxing and thoroughly recommended.

  • Just back from a lovely weekend at the Oak Yurt. This place is fantastic! From the moment we arrived we felt completely relaxed. Rachel (onsite) was great, very welcoming and helpful - especially when we ran out of firelighters on Saturday night! - and the position is perfect, you really do feel like you're in the middle of nowhere.
The yurt itself is so nice, very comfortable bed, lovely and cosy with the woodburner going in the evening and the firepit and bbq gave us the perfect excuse to spend two evenings just relaxing in the peace and quiet.
The separate bathroom is a really nice touch too, a proper shower and fluffy towels... who needs a boutique hotel eh?!
Will definitely be coming back as soon as we can.
Thank you to Charlotte and Rachel for such a nice weekend.

We loved our stay in the yurt. There was everything we needed to feel at home and the beds were very comfy. The view is nice and it is a great place to enjoy a quiet weekend away from London. Rachel and Charlotte were great at communicating and see if everything was ok

Our family loved our stay in the yurt. We were lucky with the weather and the kids played in the field. Can't wait to stay again.

  • We had a 3 night family mini break at the magically named Night Pastures. What a tonic. The yurt was set well apart from the other yurts and tents giving a lovely feeling of space and privacy. It was the ideal place for the children to run around and explore safely. The beds were comfy and the en suite facilities great - amazing you can get instant hot water that far down a meadow!
We also bought the half board food pack from the local pub which was delicious and made life much easier. The countryside in which Night Pastures is located is just gorgeous, yet it is an easy drive from London. We would definitely return.

Had a perfect stay in the Oak Yurt over the bank holiday weekend, Brigit who met us gave us the lay of the land and then left us to our own devices.

We didn't want for anything the whole weekend and enjoyed the peace and quiet of the surroundings. Everything we need was provided and we couldn't have enjoyed ourselves any more!

What a lovely spot. We enjoyed 4 days with our two young children, in our first yurt experience. Very comfortable, cosy, clean and well equipped. A really friendly reception. Very impressed and we would definitely recommend.

  • What a lovely little getaway retreat, the location was just fabulous. We had great sunshine all weekend and it was just so peaceful sitting out listening to the sounds of outdoors. The yurt itself was perfect, had everything we could have possibly needed. The bed was comfy with soft pillows and extra blankets for those chilly nights, the log burner made it feel very cosy when the sun went down, the fairy lights gave it a beautiful magical effect, it was just what a weekend away from the busy working life is all about. It had all the cups and mugs we needed plus a stove kettle, plates, cutlery, pans, chopping board, everything that you need basically. The bathroom was one of the nicest campsite bathrooms we have been in, spacious with a working toilet, sink and shower with lovely hot water, also providing towels and toiletries. The outside cooking area was just spot on, had a large bbq, gas stove and sink with washing up facilities. Also provided us with a outside log burner and logs to burn. The site manager Rachel was lovely, helping us transfer all our stuff to and from the yurt and providing us will fresh ice coolers every morning for the massive ice box they provide, it was also rather reassuring that she and her family lived on the field next to us incase of anything we needed. Overall we had an amazing time and would definitely recommend it to everyone.

Frequent Questions

How many yurts do you have?

We have just 5 yurts at Night Pastures. Beech & Oak sleep 4, Chestnut, Willow and Redwood sleep 6. The yurts are spaced some distance (50-100m) apart with Beech, Chestnut and Oak down one side, Willow on its own on the other and Redwood in the middle (between Beech and Willow).

What are the Bathroom facilities?
Beech, Oak, Chestnut and Willow all have their own private bathrooms a couple of meters outside the yurt. These are fitted out to hotel standards with a hot shower and flushing loo. We provide Faith in Nature toiletries and fluffy towels for every guest. Redwood shares its bathroom facilities with the Campers but still includes hot showers and a composting loo. Guests staying in Redwood need to bring their own towels.
What are the Kitchen facilities like?

Beech, Oak, Chestnut and Willow all have their own covered, outdoor field kitchen a couple of meters from the yurt with gas burners, grill, sink for washing up and work surface. A large ice-box keeps all refrigerated items cold and fresh ice bricks are available daily. The yurts are fully equipped with all the plates, cutlery, glasses, utensils, pots and pans you will need for your stay. Redwood has use of the communal camp kitchen but is provided with all the same equipment as the other yurts. There is a picnic table outside each yurt as well as an indoor dining table in case it’s raining. Each yurt also has its own BBQ and BBQ packs are available to buy from the local pub.

What about Campfires?

We think campfires are essential for any glamping holiday! There is a large communal stone fire pit between Beech and Chestnut Yurts and each yurt has its own fire bowl. You will be provided with logs for the internal wood burner and additional logs for campfires can be purchased on site at £10 per bag. Please be careful to keep the fire pit away from the Yurt and control the fire at all times. Please note that there is no smoking or naked flames inside the Yurt.

What about Electricity & WiFi?
As an off-grid site, all of our electricity is solar powered. There is internal lighting and a socket inside each yurt which can be used to charge a phone but please remember that if you charge 6 phones on cloudy days then you may not have lights in the evening! Sadly solar does not produce enough power to run a hairdryer. There is mains electricity in the shop and we will happily put your phone on charge for the day if necessary as well as provide power for essential medical equipment. A stay at Night Pastures is all about switching off so we have consciously decided not to offer WiFi to our guests however there are 3G and 4G signals in parts of the field so you won’t be completely cut off.
Is there Parking?

Parking is available in the field adjacent to Night Pastures and access to the yurts is via a short walk across the field. You can unload your car in the drop off zone by the gate where you will find wheelbarrows to help you move your luggage. Once unloaded, we ask that you move your car back to the main parking area to the right past the garages. We have a couple of disabled parking spaces available for the less mobile. Please note that in order to preserve Night Pastures unique environment and meadow habitat, parking next to your yurt is strictly prohibited.

Is Early Check-in & Late Check-out possible?
Our check-in times are staggered to reduce congestion in the drop off zone and you are welcome to check-into your yurt from 4pm. A 2pm early check-in can sometimes be arranged in advance but there is a £25 charge for this service. To ensure that other guests are not disturbed, we do not allow check-in after 9pm. We respectfully ask that you are punctual at check-out so that we can get the yurts ready for the next guests.
Do you have a minimum stay?

All of our yurts have a 2 night minimum stay and 3 nights over a bank holiday weekend.

Will I be cold?

There is a handmade wood burning stove in each yurt which will be prepared ready for your arrival. Within the cost of your booking, we provide a bag of logs, kindling, firelighters and a lighter. Additional bags of logs can be purchased for £10 per bag.

Are Linen and towels included?

The beds will be freshly made for your arrival with sheets, duvets and pillows.  Towels and a bath mat are also provided for guests staying in Beech, Oak, Chestnut and Willow. All bedding is changed at the end of your stay but if you need it changed before then, please contact the site manager who will arrange it for you. Additional charges apply for extra linen
